PRESS RELEASE
Artwall Gallery to Host an International Exhibition in Los Angeles Featuring Youth Artists with Developmental Disabilities
Youth Artist: Seo Yeon Yang <양서연>
Presenting Mentor–Mentee Works Under the Theme “Two Worlds, One Canvas”
Lee & Lee Gallery presents Two Worlds, One Canvas, an exhibition bringing together youth artists with developmental disabilities and their sponsoring and mentor artists.
The exhibition will be on view for one week from Monday, January 12 through Saturday, January 17, 2026. Organized by Artwall Gallery of Goyang City, Korea, the exhibition will feature works by 30 participating artists.
Since 2018, Artwall Gallery has continuously supported talented young artists with disabilities, while also providing ongoing assistance to help Korean artists grow into globally recognized figures. This exhibition, now in its second edition following last year’s presentation, aims to introduce the diversity and tradition of contemporary Korean art to an international audience, while highlighting the artistic potential and creative achievements of youth artists with developmental disabilities on the global stage.
Jisun Kim, Director of Artwall Gallery and curator of the exhibition, stated:
“This exhibition celebrates the artistic growth of young artists with developmental disabilities, including Cho Tae-sung and Kwon Soon-wook, and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting underserved youth artists,”
She further explained, “By structuring the exhibition around a mentor–mentee format, we present works by teachers and students side by side, creating a foundation—however small—for these artists’ entry into the U.S. art scene.”
Participating mentor artists include Yang Soon-deok, Kim Jung-hyo, Ian, Lee Hye-joo, Cho Soo-kyung, Oh Soo-kyung, Seo Young-joo, Do Mi-ja, Yoo Tae-hyang, and Heo Mal-nam, among others. These sponsoring artists are actively working both in Korea and internationally and serve as mentors throughout the exhibition. In particular, Yang Soon-deok participates through artwork donations, while Jisun Kim, Cho Soo-kyung, Jung Doo-ok, and Ian are directly involved in teaching and mentoring young artists.
Through this mentorship process, more than 20 youth artists, including Cho Tae-sung, Kim So-won, Yang Seo-yeon, Yeon Ho-seok, Hwang Jin-ho, Han Sung-beom, and Kwon Soon-wook, will present their work in the exhibition. Each artist will showcase a distinctive artistic vision, reflecting years of dedication to pure creative practice.
This exhibition brings together established artists, sponsoring artists, and young artists with developmental disabilities, creating harmony through color and shared expression as they present their individual worlds side by side. The organizers hope the exhibition will deeply resonate with visitors and serve as a source of encouragement and inspiration for artists with developmental disabilities moving forward.
The reception will take place on January 12 at 2:00 PM. Approximately 45 works, including oil paintings, watercolors, and acrylic paintings, will be exhibited. Following its presentation at Lee & Lee Gallery, the exhibition will continue as a traveling exhibition to Las Vegas and Chicago.
